Abstract. This article presents an analysis of the religiosity of modern Russian society. The author has revealed the methodological problems of determining the religious, on their basis the necessity of going beyond the accepted dichotomy of a believer / non-believer is substantiated. The manifestation of modern forms of religiousness of the population is considered on the basis of the data of all-Russian sociological surveys and the author's sociological study of youth religiosity in Volgograd.
