Abstract. This article considers specificity of teaching foreign language to schoolchildren in grades 9-11, its influence on the schoolchildren’s speech and their motivation to study English. It allocates characterizing, philosophical, pragmatic, encryption functions, as well as time saving feature and word secrecy function. Here are considered equivalent slang, its characteristics
and the English language influence on the slang of students at NEI lyceum № 8 “Olympia”.
