National character peculiarities in British and Russian precedent texts

Abstract. The work deals with the role of the precedent texts in the national culture; studies the concept of the national character and the means of its research. It studies the concept of the precedent text, its functions and sorts. British and Russian precedent texts are analyzed by the example of proverbs, sayings and biblical expressions. We drew a conclusion on the specific national character features of the British and the Russians.
