Abstract. Records showing monastic contributions were identified in coming books of
Joseph Volokolamsk monastery. There were discovered two groups of monastic contributions.
It were contributions of the dead monastic people and voluntary contributions. We found a
similarity of records of voluntary contributions with the act material with the help of semantic
analysis. This made it possible to use the method of formal analysis. We considered the sale of
the contribution property and calculated the proportion of contributions in income for 1607/08.

Key words: Time of Trouble, Joseph Volokolamsk monastery, monastic contributions,
